CELTIC CONNECTIONS '24: Cassani / Campbell with Fraser Fifield Trio

Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Strathclyde Suite, 2 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 3NY

Cassani / Campbell are Italian double bassist and songwriter, Roberto Cassani, and New York-based saxophonist and composer Fraser Campbell. Their debut album arose from outdoor lockdown jams in Perth (Fraser's hometown and Roberto’s adopted home) and its title poet / shuts / clock is the geolocation tag for the park bench where they’d meet to play. They’ve now put together a superb band featuring Ross Ainslie (whistles), Graeme Stephen (guitar) and Doug Hough (drums) to perform joint and solo material alongside some new instrumentals.

Completing the bill at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall is Scottish multi-instrumentalist and composer Fraser Fifield. Turning his hand to low whistle, saxophone, and bagpipes, his distinctive instrumental voice has many sources: Scottish folk, Jazz, Indian, Balkan, and more. He’ll be joined by Paul Harrison (wurlitzer piano) and Tom Bancroft (drums) as the talented trio perform a collection of Fifield originals from June 2023 release, Secret Path.
